Two Aggravated Robberies in West Auckland

2 min read

Police are investigating two aggravated robberies in West Auckland.

At about 5.40pm yesterday Monday 20 November 2006, two male offenders entered the Royal Road Dairy in the suburb of Massey and confronted the shop employee.

One of the offenders presented a baseball bat at the employee, and forced him to remain at the rear of the store. Both offenders then went to the customer area where they smashed the till and took an undisclosed sum of money. An eye witness then saw both offenders get into a stolen car and depart the scene.

Police have issued a description of the two offenders and the stolen vehicle:

2 x Males -

Wearing Beanies and bandanas

One of the males was very slim build

The other male was medium build

The description of the stolen car is:

Red Nissan Pulsar

Registration No BZA 635

This vehicle was discovered a short time later in a burnt out condition. It was found in Colwill Road Massey, a short distance from where the dairy is located on the corner of Royal Road and Spargo Road. It's highly likely these two offenders are local because their vehicle was found in an area close to where this incident took place.

Anyone who has knowledge of this vehicle or has seen it prior to, or after the robbery took place, should contact Detective Constable LAWS at Waitakere CIB on 839 0630.

INCIDENT No. 2:

The Henderson CIB is investigating the aggravated robbery of a local pharmacy in Westgate. This incident happened at about 7.45pm last night, Monday 20 November 2006.

A male dressed entirely in black entered the Westgate Pharmacy in Westgate Shopping Centre right on closing time. On entering the store the offender pulled up his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a firearm similar to pistol or sawn off shotgun.

The offender carried a pink plastic bag similar to those used for recycling clothing. He forced the four female staff members into a back room and filled the bag with the store's stock of ephedrine tablets. No shots were fired during the incident.

When he left the pharmacy he was seen getting into a black coloured vehicle. The make and model of the vehicle is unknown. The vehicle turned left into Don Buck Road and headed in the direction of Henderson.

Police have released a description of the offender:

Male

Maori

Height - 5"8" - 175 cm tall

Age - late 20's or 30's

Clean shaven - Medium Build.

Clothing - Black Beanie, Black sunglasses, Black shirt, Black Jeans

Police believe this offender can also assist them with their enquiries into a recent aggravated robbery at the Glendene Pharmacy on 10 November 2006. The offender on this occasion was similarly dressed.

Meanwhile police enquiries into the Westgate Pharmacy incident are continuing.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the offender can contact Detective Constable Wayne Gear at the Henderson CIB on 839 0631.
