Police need more car keys for vehicles left in Christchurch CBD

1 min read

As the Christchurch Vehicle Recovery Operation continues, Police are urging vehicle owners to keep bringing their car keys to the Vehicle Recovery Team's base in Hagley Park.

Police have retrieved more than 2500 vehicles from the CBD and Senior Sergeant Bruce Adams says police are continuing to retrieve cars from streets, alleyways and private carparks.
Vehicle owners should bring their car keys, reasonable proof of ownership and some photo identification, such as a drivers licence, to the Vehicle Recovery Team located at the Armagh St entrance to Hagley Park. They will be asked to fill out a registration form, including contact details. The team is available between 7am and 8pm daily.
"When owners bring in their keys they should let us know where they left their vehicle, which will make it easier to return their vehicle to them," says Mr Adams.
As Police, supported by USAR and the New Zealand Defence Force, remove cars from the CBD they are also collecting bikes and bringing them back to the team's base.
As with vehicles people need to provide details of the bike's location and proof of ownership such as a receipt, bike lock key, pin code or description of the bike.
