1 min read

A school bus tipped on its side and ended up in a paddock after a collision with a car near Wakefield this morning.

Acting Nelson Bays Area Commander Inspector Iain McKenzie said the bus, carrying two children aged 11 and 12, was heading north on State Highway 6 when it collided with a car exiting from Barton Lane at 8.05am.

The driver of the bus and the two children were taken to hospital for observation but were not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the car had to be cut from her vehicle and was also taken to Nelson Hospital. She was believed to have moderate injuries.

Inspector McKenzie advised that while the road was open, motorists could expect delays as the serious crash investigation unit inspected the scene.
