Name of Chinese student killed in crash is released

A woman from the People's Republic of China who was killed in a road crash near Palmerston North at the weekend has been identified as Jingjing Zhang.

The 26-year-old who was living in Palmerston North and studying at Massey University.

Miss Zhang was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage around 8pm on Saturday night (3 September) when she appears to have lost control on a right hand bend and collided with a wooden fence post. The crash happened in Makerua, two kilometres north of the intersection of State Highways 56 and 57, near Tokomaru.

No other vehicles were involved.
