Nurse still critical - Police seek possible witness

1 min read

A 46 year-old nurse and mother of two has been in Auckland Hospital in critical condition and on a life-support machine since September 10 - the day after the Rugby World Cup Tournament kicked off.

The woman was on a bicycle when she collided with a west-bound black Nissan four wheel drive vehicle at the intersection of Quay Street and the Strand in Parnell on the Saturday morning, just before 9.30.

The Nissan was towing a large empty trailer at the time of the crash. The cyclist was also westbound at the time.

The Police Serious Crash Unit has been investigating the incident and, as a result of information from the public, has identified a vehicle whose driver Police would urgently like to speak to.

"A black or dark-coloured BMW is reported to have stopped at the scene but left prior to Police arriving," says Constable Mark Rodgers.

"This BMW may have been a convertible with its soft top down at the time. We urgently want to speak to the driver or occupants of this vehicle."

Anyone who knows an owner of a vehicle of this description who may have been in the city on September 10 or anyone who has information that might assist the Police investigation should contact Constable Rodgers on 09 359 3116 or e-mail him on mark.rodgers@police.govt.nz
