Wellington Police to investigate where explosive device came from

1 min read

Wellington Police will investigate how an explosive device came to be at a Tinakori Road property last night.

Police and Army bomb specialists were called to deal with the device and found that it had no detonator, so was not a threat to the public.

However, Wellington Police Area Commander Inspector Peter Cowan says police will be investigating how the device got there.

"We will be talking to the individual who had it and we have other inquiries we need to make before we know the full circumstances of where the device came from and how it got to be there.

"I'd like to thank the police and army explosive specialists who were called out late last night to deal with it."
