Witnesses to fire sought

Papanui Police are seeking anyone who was in the area of a fire, possibly arson, in the McLeans Island area on Saturday morning.

Senior Constable Mike Withers says that the smoke from a fire in a shed on Miners Bank Road was seen about 11am however it is believed that it had been burning for some time.

"We have spoken to the first informant," says Mike Withers. "However they have indicated that there were other people in the area who may also be able to help."

Snr Constable Withers is seeking any other people in the area at that time to please contact him as potential witnesses, phone 374 1705.
