Police Locate Mitsubishi Driver After Hit and Run

Waitemata Police are speaking to the driver of a Mitsubishi which was involved in a hit and run incident in the suburb of Northcote this morning. A female has presented herself to Police following media publicity about the incident.

A 17 year old male is in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital after being hit by the vehicle at about 3.00am this morning. The Mitsubishi was travelling on Lake Road towards Northcote Road when it struck the teenage victim. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Police say they recovered evidence at the scene which identified the vehicle involved as being a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan. The vehicle has been located and is impounded.

Anyone who witnessed this serious hit and run incident early this morning, is asked to contact the Serious Crash Unit on 09 481 0300.
