Wellington CIB is concerned by the activities of two flashers who have indecently exposed themselves to young girls and women in the central Wellington area.
Detective Constable Mike Forrestal, Wellington CIB, said there have been eight confirmed reports of the two men - one Asian and one European - working alone or together, exposing themselves to girls and women in the central city during the last three to four months.
One of the men recently exposed himself to two seven-year-old girls on a bus in the central city.
"We've had complaints from people waiting at bus stops, on a bus, at the railway station and in other busy public areas," Detective Constable Forrestal said. "One of the men has been seen opening changing room doors at women's clothing shops and then running away.
"Generally the men use a magazine or newspaper to cover the front of their open fly, stand or sit in front of their victims, and make some comment to the women such as asking the time and before they expose themselves," he said.
The men are described as:
• Asian looking, mid to late 30s, 5ft 5in tall, stubble on his face, wears a dark grey camouflage beanie, grey sweater, dark blue jeans, light coloured rugby socks and sandals. • European, late 20s to early 30s, 6ft tall, short almost crew cut dark brown/black hair. Several witnesses comment on his acne scarred red cheeks. Dresses casually.
"This sort of activity is unacceptable and we want the offenders caught," he said. "It's important we get told about these incidents when they happen. If anyone knows who the offenders are, or people such as retailers see the offences taking place, then call police as soon as possible."
