Seven arrested during finals day at NZI Sevens

1 min read

Wellington Police say seven people were arrested for disorder or alcohol related offences and another 28 were evicted during finals day at the NZI Sevens.

Inspector Kevin Riordan, commander for the Wellington Police operation, said police were reasonably happy with crowd behaviour at the stadium.

"It was a good night and while some drunken idiots spoiled it for others, given the size of the 35,000 strong crowd we were generally pleased with only seven arrests."

He said police will continue to have a high presence in the central city overnight as fans join with thousands of other Wellingtonians to enjoy the entertainment areas.
