Emergency services are awaiting the arrival of heavy salvage equipment to remove a large tractor currently on top of a car following a fatal collision near Te Kowhai this afternoon.
The crash happened shortly before 2pm on SH39- Horotiu Rd about 3km south of Te Kowhai township.
Initial indications are the car had a sole occupant, now deceased, however a final assessment can only be made once the large commercial tractor has been removed.
SH39 is expected to be closed for between 2-3 hours to allow the Waikato Serious Crash Unit to carry out initial enquiries into the cause.
