1 min read

Waitemata Police have issued an appeal to the public for any sightings of a Silver station wagon involved in a hit and run incident in West Auckland.

The vehicle received extensive damage both to the front plastic bumper bar, and its entire front windscreen. It is believed the vehicle was stolen.

The incident happened on Tuesday night 28 October 2008 at about 10.15pm.

A 19 year old male was walking across Henderson Valley Road with three friends when he was struck by the vehicle. None of the man's friends were injured.

The male victim was thrown a considerable distance and received life threatening head injuries in the incident. He remains in Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.

The silver Subaru Legacy station wagon did not stop. It fled towards Te Atatu South and was later recovered by police early Wednesday morning on Glynbrook Road just off Roberts Road.

Police say a large number of persons will have witnessed this vehicle's movements between Henderson and Te Atatu on Tuesday night.

Anyone with sightings or other information can contact Senior Constable Karl Bevin at the Waitemata Police Serious Crash Unit on 09 481 0307
