The preliminary investigation into a fatal crash on SH1 at Horotiu on Friday night has been completed.
SH1 was closed for about three hours after the southbound vehicle left the road and ended on its roof in a ditch.
A 68-year-old Hamilton man who was driving the car died in the crash while his wife remains in a serious but stable condition in Waikato Hospital.
Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors that contributed to the crash.
The name of the deceased is expected to be released on Monday.
