POLICE LAUNCH ENQUIRY

Counties Manukau detectives have tonight launched a full-scale operation following the fatal shooting of an employee during an aggravated robbery at a Pakuranga pizza delivery company, where he worked.

Police spokesperson, Angeline Barlow says police, including Eagle, dog section, uniform staff and detectives are combing the scene tonight looking for the sole offender who police believe entered the business premises on the corner of Reeves Road and Gossamer Drive, just before 8.30pm tonight.

"Initial enquiries indicate that one person entered the pizza place with what is believed to be a firearm of some description. He has confronted one of two people working there earlier this evening and police believe whilst trying to commit the robbery the offender has fatally shot one of the two employees."

Ms Barlow says police are now making preliminary enquiries in and around the scene and are preparing for a full-scale scene examination at first light tomorrow morning.
