Be patient, slow down - drivers asked to take their time in Waikato

1 min read

Please attribute to Senior Sergeant Mark Pettigrew Waikato DCC.

If you’re travelling in our district over this time of year, you can expect to see a large amount of traffic congestion.

Waikato Police are experiencing a high number of calls about people who are driving well above the posted speed limit and putting themselves and other motorists at risk.

Motorists who risk the safety of themselves and others can expect Police will follow through with the appropriate enforcement action so we can make it a safe and enjoyable summer.

We know traffic will be heavy across the highways due to restricted roading networks and increased traffic so we encourage all drivers to have patience, leave extra time to reach your destination and drive sober.

Getting there alive and late is better than not arriving at all.

With everyone's safety in mind, Police ask that people are mindful of others and plan their trips in advance, expecting it to take a lot longer than usual to get home.
