Methamphetamine related arrest made near Nelson

Police have executed a search warrant on a motel unit in the seaside suburb of Tahunanui looking for controlled drugs. 

A number of Police executed the warrant shortly after 6.30pm this evening. As a precaution, Police also secured the assistance of the NZ Fire Service and an ambulance crew to manage any relevant issues which could arise. However, on this occasion their services were not required.

Several people were found inside the unit including a 10 year old child.  A 29 year old Nelson woman has been arrested and will be appearing in the Nelson District Court charged with possession of methamphetamine and cannabis as well as other related drug dealing offences. 

The child is now being cared for by a relative and Child, Youth and Family will be notified of the incident.
