One man critically injured in Rotorua incident

 Police were called to the Western Heights suburb of Rotorua at approximately 2.40pm this afternoon after multiple reports of disorder.

There were also reports that gunshots had been heard.
 
Initial enquiries indicate a large group of men were involved in the incident. Two men are known to have been injured and were taken to Rotorua Hospital. One has critical injuries and the other has left the hospital.
 
Four men have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.
 
Police will be maintaining a presence in the area and there are no immediate concerns for public safety.
 
A number of people have come forward and provided information for which police are grateful. Anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to police are asked to call the Rotorua Police Station on 07 348 0099
 
If anyone sees anything suspicious or anything that they feel requires an immediate response they should call 111.
 
There are unlikely to be any further updates this evening and police will not be facilitating interviews at this stage.
