1 min read

To be attributed to Detective Pieter Van Der Harst, Orewa Police

Police are seeking to identify a man who was found deceased this morning on Orewa Beach.

The body of the man was found on the northern end of the beach near the cliffs, just after 7.30am.

The person appears to be an Asian male, aged in his mid 20's. He does not have any identification or personal belongings on him and Police are asking for anyone who knows who he is to contact Orewa Police on 09 426 4555.

The man is wearing black trackpants with a white stripe down the side, a hooded sweatshirt and orange socks.

Police Search and Rescue are attending the scene and will repel off the cliffs to do a search for any of the man's belongings.

The Police Eagle Helicopter has been up over the scene, with a Police photographer on board. This is standard practice for an incident of this nature and the community should not be unnecessarily alarmed by this.

Until Police are able to identify the man and look into the circumstances that led to this morning's incident, the death will continue to be treated as unexplained.
