SH1 down to one lane near Shag Point following crash

State Highway one between Palmerston and Hampden is currently down to one lane after a large truck crashed off the road near Shag Point.

The truck crashed shortly after 7am and is now on its side blocking one lane.

The driver has been transported to Dunedin Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are in attendance at the incident and traffic control is in place but motorists should expect long delays.

The road won’t be fully reopened until mid-afternoon as Police work to clear the crash.
