Counties Manukau Police can confirm they have arrested a 37-year-old male as part of the investigation into the murder of Lance John Murphy.
He was arrested following the execution of a search warrant in Waihi and has been charged with kidnapping.
He will appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow morning.
Police cannot rule out the possibility of further charges being laid against this individual.
Police would like to thank members of the public who provided vital information which led to this arrest.
