Update - Power Outage Auckland

1 min read

Auckland Central Police would like to reassure the public that our focus continues to be to maintain law and order and provide emergency assistance if and when required.

"The Operations Planning Group are working on an Auckland Metro approach including staff from Counties Manukau and Waitemata districts and are prepared to cover the area in question for the foreseeable future.  We are working closely with the Auckland Emergency Co-Ordination Centre and other agencies and will continue to do so until the situation is resolved" says Acting Superintendent Jim Wilson, Acting Auckland City Police District Commander.

Police would like to remind anyone who thinks they can take advantage of the current situation that there will be a zero tolerance approach to any offending.  "There will be high visibility reassurance patrols as well as extra Police staff throughout the affected residential and commercial areas overnight and until the situation is rectified" says Acting Superintendent Wilson.

We would like to encourage cautious and safe driving to ensure minimal disruption.  At this stage it is anticipated that the lights will be out on the Southern Motorway between Princes St, Otahuhu and Fanshawe St.  Please note that normal road rules including the give way rule apply at intersections not manned by Police officers on point duty.

If you notice any suspicious activity please call Police immediately on 111 and we will respond accordingly.
