  • Police Heritage Walking Tour
    Explore New Zealand Police heritage sites at the Royal New Zealand Police College (RNZPC) in Papakōwhai, Porirua as part of Wellington Heritage Week.
    • Tuesday 26 October: 10-11:30am
    • Thursday 28 October: 6-7:30pm
    Visit the RNZPC Memorial Wall, the site commemorating police officers who have been slain on duty since 1886, explore the carved pou representing the 12 police districts, learn about policing in the 19th century through He matapihi o nehe rā: A window into the past, and finish with a visit to the New Zealand Police Museum.
    Booking is required. Email museum@police.govt.nz or call 04 238 3141 to book.

    Duration: 1.5 hours
    Cost: $5 per person
    Note: The terrain at the college has steep areas and steps
  • Crime Scene Investigation Workshop

    Note: All school holiday workshops will only run at COVID alert level 1.

    Tuesday 5 October (week 1), 1:30pm – 2:30pm 

    12 - 15 years             
    $5 per child

    Bookings required

    Investigate a crime scene and find out about the different forensic experts and their roles. Explore specialist pieces of evidence used to solve crimes today. Programme is recommended as a fun activity for small groups.

  • Meet one of your local Police Officers
    Note: All school holiday events will only run at COVID alert level 1.

    Free, no booking rquired

    Visit the museum and also meet a local Porirua Police Officer. You will have the opportunity to ask the officer questions, have a chat and find out more about what a police officer does and the different roles within New Zealand Police.

    Public parking is on Papakowhai Road, please enter the Police College on foot.

  • Armed Offenders Squad Visit
    Note: All school holiday events will only run at COVID alert level 1.

    Free, no booking required

    This is an amazing opportunity to find out how the AOS support frontline Police with pre-planned search warrants and control emergency call-outs involving offensive weapons. Learn about the vital role of the AOS, check out the equipment and ask questions.

    (Please note: our invited AOS member is operational and in the event of an emergency may not be able to attend).

  • Scene of Crime Officer Workshop: Footwear Impression Evidence

    Note: All school holiday workshops will only run at COVID alert level 1.

    Tuesday 12 October (week 2), 1:30pm – 2:30pm BOOKED OUT

    7 - 12 years             
    $5 per child

    Bookings required

    Create a footprint cast and record a shoe impression using forensic techniques. All junior recruits take home their own cast and impression.

    Monday 4 (week 1) and Monday 11 October (week 2), 1:30pm-2:30pm BOOKED OUT

    7 - 12 years
    $5 per child

    Bookings required

    Learn to dust, develop and lift fingerprints. All junior recruits take home their own fingerprint evidence.
