Man faces kidnapping and burglary charges

1 min read

A 25-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery after an Armed Offenders Squad callout to a Silverdale address this morning.

Police were responding to information from a member of the public that a person had been injured after shots were fired. Once the Armed Offenders Squad took control of the property, it was found that no shots had been fired.

Earlier, police say a man in the house was woken by two men wearing balaclavas and pointing a firearm at him. Police believe the man was then held against his will before they were called.

One of the men at the address was taken into custody and will appear in the Albany Court tomorrow, charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

A second man believed to be a co-offender left the house before police arrived. His identity is not known, he took a silver Toyota Celica from the property with the registration, RU 8319. Police say the man should be regarded as dangerous and should not be approached. Sightings of the vehicle should be reported to police.

Police have spent the day conducting an extensive search of the property. A preliminary search found a hydroponics set up, also firearms and other items of interest.
