Women victims concern for Police

1 min read

A second woman in less than a month has been knocked unconscious while walking or jogging along Richmond Rd, Grey Lynn.

This morning a 29 year-old woman was found lying on the footpath just east of Parawai Crescent on the city side of the Woolworths supermarket. She is in hospital with a head injury.

Detective Sergeant Lloyd Schmid of the Auckland City CIB said he’d like to speak to passersby who found the woman, sometime between 6.40am and 6.50am.

"At least three people were present when ambulance officers arrived and we’d like them to contact us in an effort to clarify what happened," Mr Schmid said.

"We’re concerned that on April 29, not far at all from where today’s victim was found, another woman was knocked unconscious by an unidentified male at about 5.50am when walking up Richmond Rd towards Ponsonby Rd.

"The April attack left the 54 year-old woman with injuries to her nose, cheek and elbow. She was hospitalised after she came-to on the footpath and went home to call an ambulance."

Anyone with information about either of these two incidents should contact DS Lloyd Schmid on 09 302 6789.
