Leading expert on policing and criminal justice to visit New Zealand

1 min read

Sir Charles Pollard, former Chief Constable of United Kingdom’s Thames Valley Police is speaking to NZ Police this month about problem-oriented policing, situational crime reduction and social crime reduction.

He is currently the chairman of the Justice Research Consortium and a member of the Youth Justice Board in the United Kingdom. Sir Charles’ advice on youth restorative justice is frequently sought by the government.

Restorative Justice is now a key part of the Youth Justice System in the United Kingdom. Restorative Justice methods are also developing in other areas: in schools for reducing truancy and anti-social behaviour; in community policing for dealing with conflict in local communities; and in the workplace for dealing with internal organisational grievances.

Sir Charles is available for media interviews on Monday 29 November by appointment.

Please contact Sarah Martin 04 474 9442 to arrange an interview.
