1 min read

The woman whose body was found about 9am on Saturday morning in a vacant lot in central Christchurch was a 36 year old Christchurch resident, says O/C Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Harvey. There is no name release as yet as it has not been confirmed that her next of kin have been notified.

Detective Senior Sergeant Harvey says that the body had no clothes on when discovered. She was identified through information from the public. "We are trying to develop a profile of the woman," says Dave Harvey.

A detailed scene examination of the vacant lot is still taking place. This is an area where people park cars during the week or is used as short cut. Noises were heard in the area around 5-6am on Saturday morning.

Police are speaking to people in who live in the area, and guests and staff at the two nearby hotels - the George on Park Terrace and the Chateaux Blanc on Montreal Street and will follow up those who may have moved on to other places.

Next media release 10am Monday.
