Waikato homicide investigation continues

1 min read

Police have returned to a Waingaro farm property in the Waikato today to continue a scene examination after a man was found dead yesterday.

The name of the 30-year-old man has not been released yet. Ambulance staff were called to the property around 3am yesterday. The man was dead when they arrived.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Whitehead said detectives would continue a scene examination at the property today. Staff from ESR have also been called in to help with forensic testing.

A team of 14 police from Ngaruawahia, Huntly and Hamilton are working on the homicide. Staff will today continue talking to neighbours of the property and other nearby residents.

Mr Whitehead said police could not disclose at this time how the man died.

"We still have some work to do regarding this and it would be foolish for us to pre-empt a situation without determining the true facts first," he said.

A post mortem has yet to be done.
