Fake notes circulating

1 min read

More counterfeit $100 notes have been handed in to Christchurch Fraud Squad recently. Police warned bar owners in the week the Lions Supporters were in town about fake notes circulating.

Detective Marg Callanan says that about eight have been handed in recently by dairy owners.

"When $100 notes are presented they should be carefully checked to se if they are real before they are accepted and goods passed goods over," she says. "Check the watermark and security strip and handle them to see if they `feel' right."
