Woman charged following stabbing

A woman will appear in court today after a stabbing incident at a caravan park in Wanganui at the weekend.

Police were called to the Bignell Street caravan park around 3am on Sunday, 26 July. A 24-year-old man had been stabbed a number of times during an incident inside the caravan in which he is currently living. He is in a serious but stable condition in Wanganui Hospital.

A 17-year-old woman from Wanganui, who is known to the injured man, was later arrested and has been charged with common assault. She will appear at Wanganui District Court later today.

The knife thought to have been used in the attack has been recovered at the caravan park.
