Kaitaia Police arrested and charged three men in relation to the aggravated robbery of three Chinese tourists in Te Paki Rd, Te Paki, on August 21.

The breakthrough came late yesterday when Police executed numerous search warrants in and around the Far North. Personal property and foreign currency belonging to the three victims was located.

The three arrested, a 19 year-old, a 20 year-old and a 25 year-old, were in custody overnight and will appear in the Kaitaia District Court today on charges of aggravated robbery.

The inquiry team has identified another male being sought in relation to the robbery. He is known to Police and Detective Sergeant Trevor Beatson says it is only a matter of time before Police catch up with him.

"He might like to contact him me the Kaitaia Police station on 408 6500 or 027 223 2628 and have this matter resolved sooner rather than later," Mr Beatson said.

The three victims, all Chinese nationals, are reportedly very happy with the result and Mr Beatson hopes the prompt apprehension of those responsible will go some way in restoring their faith in New Zealand and New Zealanders.

He thanked the general public for the information and co-operation that he and his team received during the course of the investigation.
