Attempted robbery at Fish n' Chip shop

1 min read

An attempted robbery at a Ferry Road, Christchurch, Fish n' Chip shop was thwarted by the proprietor not being able to easily understand the would-be offender.

At about 10pm last Friday night, 2 October, a male entered a Fish n' Chip shop on Ferry Road and passed over a threatening, hand written note to the woman owner behind the counter. Her command of English was not fluent and the robber left - frustrated by her supposed lack of understanding.

He is described as;
Male European in his late teens or early twenties
Solid build approximately 1.7m tall
Short black hair, no facial hair with a round face
Clean shaven
Wearing a dark coloured cap, a dark/black hoodie with a pale blue shirt underneath with a collar and black pants.

A second male who was outside and appeared to be with the above mentioned male (but did not enter the fish and chip shop) is described as aged approximately 20 years and of slighter build than the above male

Anyone with information or who recognises these descriptions is asked to contact Detective Aaron Paulsen, phone 363 7478.
