If in doubt- give us a shout say Hamilton Police

1 min read

In a bizarre twist three people had been arrested and two televisions had been recovered before Police even knew what home they'd been taken from all thanks to 'on-to- it' neighbours.

Senior Constable Bruce Bogun of the Hamilton Burglary Squad said Police received two calls of men acting suspiciously in Pukete about 2pm yesterday.

"Residents from Jamieson Cres had noticed two men acting suspiciously and phoned Police. The men had been seen walking down the street carrying a television.

"Arriving at their home Police were barred entry by a woman before they discovered a 46" and a 32" plasma screen televisions and a bag full of Playstation games and a games console.

Two brothers, one aged 17 and one aged 18 were arrested for burglary while their mother faces charges for obstruction.

"That was all well and good but we needed to find where this property came from, a short time later it was established the victims were from a property a short distance up the street.

"Yesterday's result is a perfect example of why you should phone Police if you notice something amiss, it's a case of 'if in doubt- give Police a shout', " said Mr Bogun.
