1 min read

Christchurch Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred last night around 5pm on the corner of Gloucester Street and England Streets between and car and a motorcyclist.

A 59 year old Christchurch man, John McDonald of Dallington, the motorcyclist, died in hospital last night after he sustained injuries.

Mr McDonald's motorcycle and a black Nissan Pulsar were both travelling east on Gloucester Street when it appears that the motorcyclist may have wandered into the cycle lane on Gloucester Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey says that some motorcycles are using the cycle lanes when they are required to use the same portion of the road as other vehicles.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Detective Constable Matt Reynolds, phone 3637 970.
