1 min read

Papanui Police are searching for a knife believed to have been used in an incident that occurred at an Ajax Street house in Shirley, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Detective Paul Johannsen says that the team are looking for a kitchen knife that was probably discarded as the alleged offenders ran from Ajax Street via the south side of New Brighton Road, into Bampton and Barclay streets.

"It's believed to be a kitchen knife with a non serrated blade, about 20 cm (8 inches) long, and a black plastic handle," he says.

People who live or walk along those streets are asked to keep any signs of the knife and contact Papanui Police, phone 3741700 with any information.

Three males (two age 18 years, one person 22 years) have been charged over the incident; one with wounding with intent, the other two with possession of weapons. They will appear this week.

The male victim was admitted to hospital on Saturday but has since been released.
