Kaitaia Police seek two men in relation to an aggravated robbery

Kaitaia Police are looking for two men who allegedly assaulted and robbed three French tourists in the early hours of this morning. (Friday May 21).

The male tourists, all aged in their late twenties, had parked their campervan at a lay-by just south of Mangamuka Village. In the early hours of the morning a man knocked on the window and then demanded money.

After the demands were met the man then broke into the campervan through the entrance door and was followed by a second male.

Two of the tourists were assaulted and the men also robbed the tourists of some property before leaving in a vehicle, described as an old square-shaped car, possibly dark red or brown in colour.

There was possibly a third man driving the car.

The offenders are described as male Maori, aged between 20 and 30 years.

One of the tourists received facial injuries and needed medical treatment.
