It's nearly two weeks since 18 year-old Chinese student Jiayi Li, also known as "Kiko", was last seen by friends and associates.

Shortly after 2am on May 19 she dropped friends off on New North Rd in Kingsland then drove away in her red 1998 Toyota Altezza saloon, registration Number EDB121 [pictured].

Publicity over the past weekend prompted a friend of the former owner of the vehicle to tell Police he'd seen the car on Franklin Rd at about midday on May 25, but there've been no confirmed sightings of Kiko.

Police inquiries to date have revealed she bought petrol at 1.19am at the Shell Service Station on Beach Rd in the city on May 19. From there she travelled with two male friends to Wakefield St where she collected two more friends from an internet cafe.

From there she went to a vehicle recovery yard on Cook St at 2.04am where she dropped two passengers off, before going on to New North Rd where she was reportedly last seen by the two males.

Relatives who she kept in regular contact with reported her missing to Henderson Police on May 22, but inquiries into her disappearance have since been carried out by Avondale Police.

"Inquiries with banks show there's been no activity on her usual bank account since May 19. Her mobile 'phone has not been polling since she left the Newton Rd area," Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton said.

"We have carried out a preliminary search of her Morningside apartment but have not found anything untoward. We are conducting a more thorough search of her home today."

Mr Sutton said it was vital that anyone who knows where Kiko or her car is, contacts Police at Avondale CIB on 09 820 5624 or e-mail jason.mcintosh@police.govt.nz

People who want to pass on information anonymously can do so by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
