Hamilton Police investigating the early morning street attack of a man who interrupted thieves stealing his bike are crediting members of the public for providing positive lines of enquiry. Detective Sergeant Ricky Thompson said the investigation team had been able to interview several witnesses who had come forward following the attack on Hamilton's MacFarlane St early this morning. "Several people have told us they heard the disturbance on the street and looked out to see what was going on, from their statement we've been able to piece together a sequence of events and are now following strong leads in relation to who was responsible." The 32-year-old victim of the attack told Police he discovered what he believes to be two men trying to steal his bike from his Albert St home. Following the thieves to nearby Onslow St the victim found the men with his bike and confronted them with an altercation happening outside a MacFarlane St home a short time later. The man was left with stab wounds to his hand, face and neck and was left with several cuts to his torso and had an ear bitten in half. End
