1 min read

Hamilton Police investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found near a central city toilet yesterday morning are being joined by specialist searching staff from Auckland today.

Waikato Investigations Manager, Detective Inspector Lance Burdett, said the body of the yet to be identified man was removed from the London St scene about 5pm yesterday.

"His body will be taken to Auckland this morning where a post-mortem examination will be carried out about midday to determine the cause of his death."

Mr Burdett said the scene examination would continue to day and be bolstered by the arrival of an Auckland based Specialist Search Team.

"The man's identity is still to be established and a focus for the inquiry team conducting the area canvas will be in trying to determine his identity.

"We would like to identify him so that we can advise his family and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton CIB on 07 8586200."

Mr Burdett said while investigators would prefer to speak to people in the first instance, information on the man's identity or possible movements could be left anonymously on the Crimestoppers crimeline, 0800 555111.
