Inquiry ongoing

Police investigating yesterday's shooting of a 29 year-old man in a Penrose gun shop hope to have the scene examination completed today.

Security surveillance footage from the shop has been given to investigators and further witness interviews will be carried out today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Scott said the wounded man is still in a stable condition under guard in Auckland City Hospital.

"We'll be guided by medical experts as to when we can speak to the man to hear his version of yesterday's events," Mr Scott said.

"Once we've collated all our information and had a chance to evaluate everything that the investigation produces, we'll be in a position to be able to determine what, if any, charges are laid against anyone involved."
