87 year old man still missing

Police are appealing for sightings of 87 year old North Shore man Hoo Kim who has now been missing for over 36 hours.

Mr Kim went missing from his home in Hillcrest, North Shore on Tuesday 26 October 2010 around 3.00pm.

He is of Korean descent and can speak some English and answers to his name.

Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Matheson says a Search and Rescue group has been established and is now actively searching for Mr Kim.

"About 15 Search and Rescue staff have been deployed and are now searching in the Birkenhead area for Mr Kim. They are concentrating on parks and domains."

Police are continuing to make enquiries with local transport companies to help in locating Mr Kim.

"We are concerned for Mr Kim's safety, as is his family, and we want to locate him urgently."

Mr Kim suffers from Alzheimer's and will likely be disoriented. He is thought to be wearing a white cap, brown chequered jumper, black track suit pants, and black slippers.

Anyone who has seen Mr Kim or has any information that could help in locating him are urged to call North Shore Police Station on 09 477 5000.
