Local man dies after Motueka Valley crash

One man is dead and two other people received minor injuries after a head-on collision between two vehicles in the Motueka Valley on Tuesday afternoon, 9 November 2010.

The accident happened about 3pm on the West Bank Road, about 20km up the Motueka Valley. The driver of the west-bound vehicle, Adrian Winiata, 48, of Motueka died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle received minor injuries. One was hospitalised overnight for observation.

Motueka Sergeant Rob Crawford said police had completed a scene investigation and the matter had been referred to the coroner. The investigation will indicate whether any charges will be laid in relation to the crash
