Man charged following death of cyclist

A man has been charged following the death of a cyclist in November.

Patricia Anne Veronica Fraser, aged 34, from Longburn, near Palmerston North, was out cycling on 13 November with her best friend. Both were training to take part in the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.

As the pair rode single file along SH3 near Mount Stewart about 2.45pm a car travelling in the same direction collided with Patricia.

Following an extensive investigation and review of all of the circumstances, a 45-year-old man from Marton has been charged with careless driving causing death.

He will appear at Feilding District Court on Wednesday, 26 January.
