Thanks for help in bank robbery arrest

1 min read

Police want to thank the community of Feilding for their assistance in the quick resolution of a bank robbery in the town.

The BNZ bank at the corner of Fergusson Street and Manchester Street was robbed on Tuesday (25 January) by a man wearing a full-faced motorbike helmet and carrying a handgun.

Yesterday as a result of a variety of information Police executed a search warrant at a house in Feilding and arrested a 26-year-old man who has since been charged with aggravated robbery and possession of cannabis.

Officer in charge of Feilding CIB Detective Johnny Oram said: "The community showed true concern about their town by taking note of what was going on around them. We were provided timely information which, without a doubt, led to an early resolution and the recovery of the weapon, some of the cash, and other significant evidence such as clothing. We rely on the community to assist us in preventing and detecting crime and it is important on occasions such as this that we say thank you for the support we receive."
