Pilot makes safe emergency landing at Woodbourne Airfield

1 min read

The pilot of a Dash 9 aircraft made a successful emergency landing at Woodbourne Airfield near Blenheim this afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Naera Parata of Blenheim Police said the plane carrying 44 passengers was enroute from Hamilton to Wellington when the pilot was alerted to problems with the undercarriage.

The aircraft was diverted to Woodbourne where it made several passes over the airfield so the undercarriage could be viewed. It was apparent the nose wheel had not deployed.

At 2.45pm the pilot made a successful emergency landing without the nose wheel.

None of the passengers were injured.
