A man found dead following a car fire in Waitarere Beach Forest has been named as Dick Illya Tikirau Pere, aged 43, from Palmerston North.
The death is being treated at this stage as unexplained and an investigation is underway.
Police are still keen to hear from anyone who saw Mr Pere or the silver Daewoo Nabira any time between 1am and 7.20am on Wednesday, 4 May.
