Where is Mr Hall?

2 min read

A search and rescue operation will continue into the weekend as concerns continue to grow for missing Brett Hall.

The 47-year-old Palmerston North man owns a lifestyle block off the River Road, Wanganui, north of Parakino and is currently having a house built there.

Since he was reported missing on Tuesday night around 20 search and rescue personnel have been scouring the rugged terrain. A police dog has assisted the land search and air support has been provided by a local helicopter but there is no sign of Mr Hall.

A caravan on the property has been found insecure, his vehicle is there and his quad bike is just a few hundred metres away from the caravan.

Senior Sergeant Darcy Forrester said: "The locations of his vehicles and the status of the caravan suggest that he hasn't gone far but three days of thorough searching have revealed nothing. The terrain is incredibly unforgiving, but there is some excellent expertise within our search teams and we would like to think we would have found some indication if he was in that immediate area."

Searches are being carried out over a distance of 16 square kilometres.

Mr Hall was last in contact with family towards the end of last week. A builder working on the lifestyle block reports seeing him at 10am on Sunday morning.

Police can't rule out the possibility that he has left the property in someone else's vehicle, or that something more sinister has occurred. Certainly the lack of communication with family is out of character, but there is nothing obvious at this stage to suggest foul play.

"To assist the search we really need something more specific to go on. Anyone who has seen Mr Hall in the last week or spoken with him needs to think about anything that may have been said that might indicate his plans or where he might be now," said Senior Sergeant Forrester.
Mr Hall is described as European, approximately 182cm tall and medium build. It is not known what he was wearing when he went missing. He has no known medical conditions.
