Appeal for witnesses to Hamilton indecent assault

Hamilton Police investigating an alleged indecent assault on a woman as she waited for a bus on this morning are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bubear of the Hamilton CIB said was waiting for the bus into town on Garnett Ave, Te Rapa, about 9.35am.

"The offender has indecently assaulted the 26-year-old woman before fleeing on foot towards the Waterworld Swimming complex.

"A short time later the bus has stopped and our victim has ridden to the City Transport Centre, we're asking anyone on the bus who may have seen anything untoward happening to contact us," said Mr BuBear.

The offender was described as male with brown skin and short black hair wearing 'warm' clothing.

Anyone who witnessed the attack or saw a man acting inappropriately towards a woman at the bus stop is asked to contact Mr BuBear at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200.
