One killed and another critically injured

Police are appealing for information about the movements of two teenagers and a vehicle in the hours leading up to a fatal crash near Eketahuna on Wednesday night (22 June).

The fatal crash happened around 10.20pm about 4kms north of the Eketahuna township. The blue Subaru Legacy stationwagon was travelling south when it lost control, slid into a culvert and rolled.

The front seat passenger, 19-year-old Thomas Mark Brian Morison from Masterton, died at the scene. The driver, also 19 and from Masterton, was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital and has since been transferred to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and Police want to hear from anyone who has information about the activities of Mr Morison and his friend during the afternoon and evening. They also want to hear from anyone who saw the Subaru Legacy being driven on Wednesday.
