1 min read

The man found murdered in his Claybrook Rd, Parnell home of less than a week, was 38 year-old Reece John Shadbolt, recently of St John's/Meadowbank.

Mr Shadbolt was a print production studio manager in Parnell and it's believed he lived alone.

Police removed Mr Shadbolt's body from his home late this morning and a post-mortem examination this afternoon revealed he died after being stabbed several times.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Beard said Mr Shadbolt's family was understandably shocked by his death and are helping Police establish a clear picture of his background and associates.

"Obviously the scene is still cordoned off and I expect the examination of it will continue for some days," Mr Beard said.

"We're also carrying out local inquiries in an effort to gather information about who might have been in the area of the Claybrook Rd flats where he died, at about 8.30am on the morning of Waitangi Day, Tuesday February 6.

"The information we have is that there was some sort of altercation in Mr Shadbolt's flat - Unit 5/5 Claybrook Rd - at about that time, and we'd like to hear from anyone with information that might assist us find his killer or killers."

Police Northern Communications Centre staff received information from a caller much later on Waitangi Day - about 8pm - saying a person had been injured at the address earlier in the day. On attendance at the flat, Police discovered Mr Shadbolt dead and immediately initiated a homicide inquiry.
