Murder inquiry in Parnell - February 7, 2007

Auckland City Police have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of a man's body in a Parnell residential address last night.

Police were advised of an altercation at the Claybrook Rd address at about 8pm last night and, after visiting the property, discovered the deceased.

The man's identity is unknown at this stage and his body is in-situ while the early stages of a scene examination are carried out.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Beard is heading the investigation which is being run out of Auckland Central Police Station.

No further details are available at this stage.
